FROM OUR CELLAR TO YOURS

– VIRTUAL TASTINGS WITH THE WINEMAKING TEAM! –

Looking for a great wine for a Wednesday night, or pretty much any other night?  Join our winemakers for background and tips on our recent releases in this series of short videos that discusses how the wines were made.

A sparkling wine made for celebrating all of life’s occasions, our Old Vine Brut is deliciously vibrant and fresh. Join winemakers Mark and Rebecca as they taste our inaugural vintage of a Traditional Method sparkling wine. Handcrafted from old vine Pinot Blanc grapes, selected from our historic 50 year old estate, this exceptional and rare sparkler shows the unique qualities of half century old vines in producing outstanding fruit intensity. Made in the classic Méthode Champenoise process, the wine undergoes a secondary fermentation in the bottle. The base wine was laid down for en tirage for 24 months developing the highly desired classic rich and creamy characters. Following riddling for 28 days and disgorging of the lees, our winemakers added a proprietary dosage prior to final packaging. A lively palate, with a persistent mousse, this fantastic first vintage shows inviting toasty brioche and biscuit notes. Refreshingly dry in style, try it with fresh shucked oysters or truffle buttered popcorn and fresh ground black pepper. À votre santé!

Refreshing and perky, our second vintage of Ti Amo is made for celebrating with loved ones! Join winemakers Mark and Rebecca as they demonstrate how to safely and easily pop open our delightful Prosecco-style wine. Radiant and creamy, this approachable sparkler is crafted with aromatic white grapes comprised primarily of Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer and Sémillon. A fruit forward frizzante, it was made in the classic Charmat-Martinotti method, undergoing a secondary fermentation for a minimum of 30 days in a stainless steel tank. This 2020 vintage has small, fine bubbles and shows delicate floral scents of pretty rose petal. A lively, slightly off-dry palate follows of passion fruit, lychee and a touch of zesty citrus. Versatile and fun with just a kiss of sweetness, enjoy while your cooking dinner, with appies or light fare. Saluti!

This fun, yet complex wine is uniquely available to select BC Save-On-Foods stores. An inviting blend of approximately 2/3 Pinot Gris and 1/3 Viognier. Lovely aromatics of ripe peach, citrus, and clover with waves of honeysuckle, peach, and citrus zest on the palate.

It’s Rosé season! Time for patios, barbeques, picnics and enjoying the return of fun outdoors. Join our winemakers Mark and Rebecca as they discuss how we make our pretty in pink, Rosé. Crafted with handpicked Cabernet Franc from local Oliver and Osoyoos vineyards, it undergoes a time honoured winemaking process to achieve just the right colours, aromas and flavours for a Rosé. The grapes for this vintage were gently destemmed, cold soaked in our Italian Ganimede fermenters, pressed, and cold fermented for just over a month. The ferment was then stopped just prior to dryness to best feature the natural, juicy sweetness. This delightful wine shows flavours of strawberry, cranberry and rhubarb. Some pairing recommendations from our winemakers include honeyed ham, spicy chorizo, or charcuterie plates with a red fruit chutney, and enjoy with good friends!

Singularly unique in Canada, our highly prized Trebbiano is crafted from historic old vines brought over from Italy and originally planted here in 1968. Join winemakers Mark and Rebecca as they discuss this rare and beautiful wine. Made with handpicked grapes from our Golden Mile Bench estate vineyards, the 52 year old vines produce less fruit with highly concentrated flavours. The grapes were destemmed, meticulously sorted and then whole berry pressed, and settled for four days. This was followed by an exceptionally long, cool fermentation in stainless steel for 38 days. This thorough and careful winemaking process produces clean juice that is fresh, crisp and retains the gorgeous essence of the Trebbiano aromatics along with bright, fruit flavours. This outstanding vintage displays fragrant citrus aromas followed a dry, yet zesty palate of lemon meringue, wildflower honey and mineral flavours. A treasure to enjoy with friends and family. Saluti!

A wine built to age, join winemaker Mark Hopley in a tasting of our iconic Bordeaux style blend, Garland. A wine that celebrates Hester Creek’s historic 1968 year old vineyard, our roots run deep with this Cabernet Sauvignon driven red. A true expression of Golden Mile Bench fruit, this vintage is made with grapes from our older vines and is over 80% Cabernet Sauvignon with splashes of Petit Verdot, Malbec, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. It shows dark fruits such as currants, plum, and cassis, with incredible structure and intensity. Aged for 2 years in mostly French oak, Garland will cellar gracefully for up to 10 years, or even longer. Mark recommends pairing with big, savoury meaty dishes such as a roasted lamb shank or rich pot roast.

Uncork a bottle of our flagship Bordeaux style wine with winemakers Mark Hopley and Rebecca Ruggeri. A classic blend of almost equal parts Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, the Judge is a powerful red made with handpicked grapes from our historic Golden Mile Bench vineyard. Crafted with fruit from some of our original 1968 plantings, the more concentrated flavours of these old vines sees it’s way into the best lots in our cellar. Mark and Rebecca judge from among our best barrels of the 2017 vintage for our iconic red. Aged in primarily French oak and built to cellar gracefully, the wine can also be enjoyed now. They recommend pairing with char-grilled steak, roasted portobello mushrooms, or try for a rich and decadent chocolate mousse cake. Sweet!
