Procurement and Distribution Manager

Hester Creek Estate Winery is looking to fill a full time role of Procurement and Distribution Manager. Hester Creek is located on the Golden Mile Bench, south of Oliver, B.C. and has a state of the art cellar, utilising traditional and new winemaking technologies. Hester Creek also operates a 12,000 square foot warehouse facility just north of Osoyoos. A Procurement and Distribution Manager would offer the following attributes; strong communications skills, the ability to make timely decisions and adapt to changing priorities, passion for procurement distribution and warehousing, self-motivation and be organized. The successful candidate should have previous procurement, production and warehousing experience of 3 or more years. Must also have the ability to work extended hours as required, climb stairs and ladders, work in warm and cool environments, and carry up to 50lbs.

Basic Function:

To facilitate the ordering and receiving of all components (labels, corks, glass,

screwcaps ect…) in conjunction with label design and winemaking team in order to meet all bottling and bagging schedules. Building, booking and coordinating bottling schedule with Winemaking.

Prepare and stage bottling and bagging days in conjunction with Shipping and Logistics

Coordinator.

Oversee and support warehousing, shipping and logistics including filling in for Shipping and Logistics Coordinator during vacation time and other time of need.

Provide constant reporting and recommendations to Director of Operations maximizing efficiencies and cost savings throughout all warehousing initiatives.

Actively participate in bottling campaigns including at times operating forklift.

Effectively manage a team of 3-5 people.

Payroll Administrator/Accounting Assistant

Hester Creek Estate Winery is hiring for a full-time Payroll Administrator/Accounting Assistant. Our beautiful winery is located in Oliver, BC, and includes a vineyard, cellar, wineshop, guest villas and restaurant. We are open year round.

Job Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all departments using automated payroll software
  • Coordinate job postings and assist with onboarding/offboarding administration
  • Maintain accurate and complete employee records as per legislation requirements
  • Manage administration of Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program and all associated reporting, paperwork, travel arrangements, etc.
  • Manage WCB reporting
  • Administration of employee benefits program

Accounting Support

  • Process cash out and deposit reconciliation for multiple departments
  • Process accounts payable and/or receivable as needed
  • Assist with office admin/support tasks as needed

Essential Skills

  • Accounting knowledge and strong interpersonal skills in dealings with both employees and third parties.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with an automated payroll system, preferably Payworks.
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office programs, with a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset, as is experience with Commerce7.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of payroll best practices, payroll legislative policies, and Employment Standards Act.
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years of payroll and accounting experience.
  • Preference given to someone currently enrolled in (or graduate of) business administration, accounting or bookkeeping diploma/degree program.
  • Successful completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or certification an asset.

This position reports to the Director of Finance. Medical and dental benefits are provided. Compensation: $26 – $28 per hour, depending on experience.

Events and Marketing Coordinator

1 year contract

Hester Creek Estate Winery is looking for a motivated career driven wine and hospitality enthusiast to fill an Events and Marketing Coordinator position. The role includes booking and communication of events both internally and externally ensuring appropriate departments are informed of their involvement.

This role will support all departments for menu printing, winery POS as well as Website maintenance.

The Events Coordinator will also support the Bench Club Manager as needed during vacations or time away. This roll will not include social media but may support content creation pertaining to our social media programs.

The Events Coordinator will represent the Hester Creek brand both externally at industry related functions and internally through hosting Signature, VIP and sales tastings.

This position will work in support of the wineshop team at times during seasonal busy periods.

The successful candidate should have a minimum of 3 years in event management and or marketing coordination.

This position will report directly to the Marketing Manager.

Warehouse Assistant

Hester Creek Estate Winery is looking to fill the position of Warehouse Assistant. This position will be in support of the Logistics and Inventory Control Coordinator with all shipping and pack outs related to direct to consumer orders, BCLDB, as well as any shipping activity. This position will assist in the picking, and deliver of interdepartmental wine orders on the Estate.

Position responsibilities will be but not limited to the following.

  • Picking, packing, and shipping of DTC orders for features as well as Bench Club subscriptions.
  • Monitor par levels and process stock movements between warehouse facilities in support of Logistic & Inventory Control Coordinators absence.
  • Printing wine direct orders.
  • Aid Procurement and Distribution Manager in covering for Logistics and Inventory Control Coordinator on days off and vacation time.
  • Picking and delivering wineshop, Terrafina and Villa orders.
  • Receiving onsite orders at winery.
  • At times upport wineshop and Terrafina team in putting orders away.
  • Must be computer literate and able to work with Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook.
  • Capable of learning our operating systems for company wide ordering systems.
  • Manage the organization and upkeep of the warehouse facilities, forklift, power worker, scissor lift.

This role will be a full-time year-round role with remuneration commensurate to experience with a range of $24.00 to $27.00 hourly plus benefits.
