Payroll Administrator/Accounting Assistant

Hester Creek Estate Winery is hiring for a full-time Payroll Administrator/Accounting Assistant. Our beautiful winery is located in Oliver, BC, and includes a vineyard, cellar, wineshop, guest villas and restaurant. We are open year round.

Job Responsibilities:

Payroll Administration

  • Process bi-weekly payroll for all departments using automated payroll software
  • Coordinate job postings and assist with onboarding/offboarding administration
  • Maintain accurate and complete employee records as per legislation requirements
  • Manage administration of Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program and all associated reporting, paperwork, travel arrangements, etc.
  • Manage WCB reporting
  • Administration of employee benefits program

Accounting Support

  • Process cash out and deposit reconciliation for multiple departments
  • Process accounts payable and/or receivable as needed
  • Assist with office admin/support tasks as needed

Essential Skills

  • Accounting knowledge and strong interpersonal skills in dealings with both employees and third parties.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with an automated payroll system, preferably Payworks.
  • Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office programs, with a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is an asset, as is experience with Commerce7.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and keen attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of payroll best practices, payroll legislative policies, and Employment Standards Act.
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years of payroll and accounting experience.
  • Preference given to someone currently enrolled in (or graduate of) business administration, accounting or bookkeeping diploma/degree program.
  • Successful completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or certification an asset.

This position reports to the Director of Finance. Medical and dental benefits are provided. Compensation: $26 – $28 per hour, depending on experience.
