Villa Management Support

Hester Creek Estate Winery is currently looking to fill a Villa Management support role for the 2020 season.  The Villa at Hester Creek is a six-suite luxury bed & breakfast located in Oliver, B.C., providing guests a personalized and elegant accommodation experience.   The position is a part-time role, Friday through Monday inclusive, and is in support of the Villa Management position.  Roles and responsibilities include guest services/management, reservations/office administration, food preparation and service, as well as some kitchen/laundry support. An ideal candidate should offer the following attributes; positive and professional attitude, strong communications skills, the ability to work within a team atmosphere and have a passion for exceptional guest experience.  Competitive wage offered.

Wine Shop Associates and Team Leaders

We are looking for motivated wine enthusiasts to join our great wine shop team! We are focused on exceptional, informative guest experiences and need the right people to maintain this vision. You must be passionate about service, wine, food and providing each and every one of our customers a “true wine experience”!

The successful candidates:

  • are well presented, approachable and project a positive, out-going personality
  • possess current “Serving-It-Right” certificate
  • have previous working experience in the wine/hospitality industry is an asset but not necessary
  • are able to meet the physical requirements including repetitive lifting of up to 30 lbs
  • can be capable to stand for extended periods of time

Harvest Intern

We are looking for experienced interns to join our team for the upcoming 2020 harvest. We have two positions available, one starting in May to November and the second August to November with processing starting late August.

Ideal Candidate would have:

  • Diploma or degree in wine related field preferred but not essential
  • Minimum of 2 harvest experiences
  • Forklift Experience
  • Attention to detail with the ability to prioritize and multitask
  • Ability to work long hours in a fast paced team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • Valid driver’s licence and clean driving record
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada

Responsibilities Include:

  • Grape Sampling
  • Crush pad operations-grape sorting and processing
  • General cellar duties, including racking, inoculations, additions, filtering
  • Winery Sanitation of tanks and equipment
  • Assist with bottling operations

Payroll Administrator

Hester Creek Estate Winery has an immediate opening for a part-time Payroll Administrator.

Our beautiful winery is in Oliver, BC and includes a vineyard, cellar, wine shop, guest Villa and restaurant.

The successful applicant will be responsible for processing payroll on a bi-weekly basis for all departments for both salaried and hourly team members using an automated payroll system.

Essential Skills

  • Accounting knowledge and strong interpersonal skills in dealing with both employees and third parties.
  • Solid understanding of and experience with an automated Payroll System.
  • Experienced in the use of computer programs, including Payroll Software and the Microsoft Office Suite, with a high proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise tact and discretion in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
  • Knowledge of payroll best practices, payroll legislative policies, and Employment Standards Act.
  • Minimum 2 – 3 years of payroll experience.
  • Preference given to someone currently enrolled in (or recent graduate of) Business Administration/HR certificate/diploma/degree program.
  • Successful completion of the Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) or certification an asset.

Chef de Partie, Line Cooks and Dishwashers

Terrafina Restaurant at Hester Creek Estate Winery is currently looking for a Chef de Partie, Line Cooks and Dishwashers for our award-winning Tuscan inspired restaurant. The successful candidates must have a culinary background and be willing to work evenings and weekends.

The Chef de Partie will work directly with the sous chef and chef to ensure that the expectation is met by all the culinary team. Your work will be an important factor to a successful kitchen.

The Line Cooks will report directly to the restaurant chef and assist in the daily operations of the kitchen and its team.

Dishwashers play a very important role, ensuring the kitchen team has the tools to do their part and our guests have the dishes, glasses and silverware needed to enjoy their meals.

Servers, Bussers and Hosts

Terrafina is an all-day kitchen and looking to round out the 2020 hospitality team with Servers, Hosts and Bussers. The successful candidates will require a wide range of hospitality expertise and be hard-working, enthusiastic and be willing to work evenings and weekends.

Servers will act as the primary connection to the restaurant and will have the most guest interaction. Servers will take orders, prepare drinks, serve culinary dishes, and share the best that Terrafina has to offer.

Hosts will greet guests and assist with table management and seating.

Bussers will assist with keeping the table service efficient and keeping tables clean.
