Three Things our Pinot Gris and Character White Have in Common

As the seasons transition from summer to winter, we get this absolutely breathtaking moment in between called autumn. It is especially known that here in the South Okanagan, we have beautiful warm and dry fall days filled with sunshine which is one of the factors that makes this region iconic for growing orchard fruits and grapes for award-winning wines. The harvest season for 2023 was quite compacted in comparison to other years, but this has given our cellar team a chance to become creative in their winemaking and take the time to finesse the details of producing this year’s vintage. More on the harvest will come in a later post, but for now, let’s get back to those autumn colours and feels.

The transition of summer to winter doesn’t apply only to the colours of the valley, but also to the wines we choose to drink. Typically, we start noticing people change their preference from crisp summer white wines to bold winter reds, but we would like to challenge this notion. The photo below was taken the week of Ocotober 16th out on the patio at our restaurant, Terrafina. It shows an arrangement of Burrata paired with our homemade bread and either our Pinot Gris or Character White – additionally, this dish would pair brilliantly with our Old Vine Pinot Blanc.
