BC sparkling wine is the most trending thing right now. Especially with sparkling wine season right around the corner!
Speaking of trending, I’m adopting the trend of hashtagging all the seasons as #szn from now on. Therefore, it is officially, #SparklingWineSZN as per my own rules.
Now, back to sparkling wine.
If you ask our Winemaker, Mark Hopley, what his favourite Hester Creek wine is, he’d respond, “All of them.” Because they’re all his metaphorical babies and he can’t logically choose just one as the favourite. Now if you were going to ask me, the author of this post, what my favourite Hester Creek wine is, I’d say “Old Vine Brut.” Why? Because it is the most elegant BC sparkling wine I’ve tasted to date. Created as a tradtional method sparkling wine, our Old Vine Brut is made with 100% estate-grown Pinot Blanc grapes planted on our Golden Mile Bench vineyard in 1968. With years of experience behind them, these old vines know how to weather the storms and produce fruit of outstanding quality.
The grapes for this vintage were hand harvested in early 2020 before going through a whole cluster press, then a primary fermentation in stainless steel and finally bottled to go through a secondary fermentation for 24 months. This results in an extremely well-layered and complex wine (for wine newbies, this is exactly what you’re looking for when tasting wine) full of bright citrus notes and further enhanced by doughy undertones.
To purchase our Old Vine Brut and other wines, come up to the Wine Shop which is open from 10am to 4pm daily or visit our online store where you can mix and match a case of wine for you and all of your friends.
