Media Release – Announcing Terrafina at Hester Creek by RauDZ

Hester Creek Estate Winery is proud to welcome RauDZ Creative Concepts Ltd to one of the South Okanagan’s most celebrated wine country restaurants, Terrafina at Hester Creek. RauDZ Creative Concepts Ltd, led by co-owners Rod Butters and Audrey Surrao, has been at the forefront of the culinary scene in this province for years, creating such brands as RauDZ Regional Table and micro bar & bites.

Terrafina is a gorgeous Tuscan style restaurant nestled amongst the vines of Hester Creek Estate Winery in Oliver. This picturesque setting is ideal in facilitating the culinary and service expertise of RauDZ Creative Concepts. Set on the 105-acre Mediterranean-influenced grounds, views at Hester Creek are highlighted by the vineyard laden hills of the Golden Mile Bench. The estate boasts some of the oldest vines in the region, with some plantings dating back to 1968. The coveted seats on the patio capture the Okanagan sunshine with a Tuscan-like view.

The teams on both sides of this winning combination are thrilled. Hester Creek President, Mark Sheridan, states “We are extremely excited to be partnering with RauDZ Creative Concepts. The personality and experience of Rod and Audrey are a perfect fit with our existing Hester Creek team and we look forward to combining our talents.” RauDZ Creative Concepts co-creator/owner, Audrey Surrao (the au in RauDZ) commented, “We are excited about this opportunity to collaborate with one of the valley’s best wineries.”

The relationships in this project have an extensive history. Hester Creek`s Director of Hospitality, Roger Gillespie, worked with Rod and Audrey at the Wickaninnish Inn in Tofino in the late 90’s and numerous Hester Creek team members have worked closely with RauDZ Creative Concepts over the years. These relationships started strong and have endured.

Terrafina and Hester Creek have built their brand side by side, sharing the same philosophies about wine and the culinary intimacy with it. Terrafina has operated as a part of the Hester Creek family led by Chef de Cuisine Jenna Pillon. Chef Jenna will continue to work closely with the new team of Chef Butters and RauDZ Executive Chef, Brock Bowes to create the Terrafina dream team.

Meaning ‘from the earth’, Terrafina will continue with the Tuscan themed cuisine that pairs perfectly with the award-winning wines of Hester Creek. Chef Butters will be infusing some of the innovative, locally focused flavours that RauDZ is famous for and is excited to have a restaurant in another part of the valley, “I’m looking forward to working closely with the farmers and artisans of the South Okanagan in what I consider to be the Chef’s ‘Ultimate Playground.’” The wine list at Terrafina will continue to feature and focus on Hester Creek wines including an extensive library of past vintages and winery exclusive products.  Terrafina by RauDZ is also planning rotating taps of local craft beer and cocktails featuring local distillers.

Working with Jorin Wolf Interior Design, RauDZ will be doing a refresh of the Terrafina space to enhance the already warm, Tuscan-feel that has made Terrafina one of the leading winery restaurants in the province.

Terrafina at Hester Creek by RauDZ will be opening in April 2017.
